Position Summary

Bear Mountain is seeking a reliable, and motivated individual Plan, direct, or coordinate supportive services of an organization, such as working with Scheduler and unit secretaries daily to establish schedule to meet Residents medical appointments or residents’ outings. May oversee maintenance and custodial cleaning and repair of Van audits, and policies.

Essential Functions

Van Driver Duties:

  • Follow Van schedules and communicate with the Transportation Scheduler regarding all aspects of clients’ transportation
  • Assist clients in a prompt, helpful, courteous, and compassionate manner
  • Assist the Transportation Scheduler with changes and pertinent information about clients
  • Communicate any vehicle maintenance needs to the Transportation Scheduler and Administrator
  • Ensure that vehicle mileage and maintenance logs are current
  • Never Solicit and collect donations/tips from Van riders
  • Assist Center staff with client support as needed or whenever scheduling permits
  • Attend and participate in community events as related to the provision of services to Residents.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other staff members who assist and go with Residents to appointments
  • Complete all reports required by the Administrator
  • All other duties as assigned.

Medical Escort Duties

  • Accompany residents into medical facilities and remain with them throughout their appointments (as needed), ensuring comfort and emotional support.
  • Communicate relevant appointment information (e.g., visit summaries, medication changes, provider instructions) back to the nursing or administrative staff in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Advocate for residents who may have cognitive or sensory impairments, helping bridge communication between providers and the facility.
  • Monitor resident wellbeing throughout the trip and notify staff of any unusual symptoms or distress observed during or after transport.
  • Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines, maintaining resident confidentiality at all times.

Required Qualifications

  • The Transportation Scheduler is required to have a current, valid State of Massachusetts driver’s license.
  • Must be CPR certified or willing to obtain CPR certification.
  • Have a clean driving record. And able to supple validation.
  • Have prior experience driving 14 passenger vans to transport clients to appointments
  • Van drivers must maintain their ability to drive legally and be physically able to assist mild to moderately disabled individuals with access of the Vans.
  • Van Drivers must have the ability to lift at least 50 pounds without difficulty and be able to push or support up to 300 pounds.
  • Van drivers are expected to be helpful and assist clients with personal belongings as they utilize the vans for transportation.
  • Van drivers should possess the ability to work effectively and patiently with individuals with age related, cognitive or physical limitations.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to lift, support, or assist residents safely—up to moderate weight.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and customer-service orientation.
